Why is SMS paid?
Every SMS we send to you or your contacts costs us money. Email is essentially free, so we include it in the free tier. The SMS subscription lets us cover our real costs of SMS without charging everyone for something not everyone needs.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Cancel from your billing page in the dashboard — the subscription ends at the end of the current billing period, no partial refunds, no lock-in. Your free tier remains active and nothing else changes.
Do you take donations?
Yes! It's the only real way of covering our server costs so thank you for even checking! We've set up three easy ways to give: PayID (free & instant for Aussie banks), Stripe (card, Apple Pay, Google Pay). We'd rather someone who needs the service use the free tier and tips a few dollars when they can, than have a paywall.
What if I forget to pay and my subscription lapses?
Your account stays active on the free tier — you just lose the SMS-specific features. Your daily check-ins, emergency contacts escalation, and final messages keep working via email. No panic, no surprise outage.
Is there a student / concession / hardship tier?
Not a formal tier yet, but if the $8/month is a barrier for you and SMS really matters (e.g. you're in a bushfire zone with patchy email delivery), please email us and we'll sort something out. We genuinely built this to be accessible.
Will you raise prices later?
SMS carrier rates are what they are, and we'll pass those through if they change. If we ever raise base prices, existing subscribers are grandfathered at their current rate for at least 12 months. But I genuinely can't see these prices being raised for at least half a decade.
How is payment handled? Do you see my card?
Payments go through Stripe Checkout. We never see or store your card — Stripe handles it all. We only store a customer reference that lets us manage your subscription.
